FinCEN, a unit of the Treasury Department, issued an alert regarding suspicious activity involving certain cross-border payments involving U.S. money services businesses, according to the agency. The alert came as U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent announced several initiatives to combat fraud in Minnesota.

The action is part of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud. The Treasury said it continues to work to protect American taxpayer dollars and restore integrity to federal benefits programs.

FinCEN also issued a notice to help financial institutions detect and report suspicious activity involving the exploitation of charities and non-profit organizations.
