A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and kidnapping following a stabbing in Baltimore on October 22.

Abubakarr Barrie, an undocumented immigrant from Sierra Leone, allegedly brought the 15-year-old victim to a basement property he was renting and stabbed her several times. The victim escaped and was encountered by police. Barrie was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and kidnapping. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer for Barrie on October 24.

Barrie had been arrested in July 2026 by the New York City Police Department on charges of third-degree possession of a forged instrument. According to the Department of Homeland Security, New York authorities released him despite an ICE detainer, roughly three months before the alleged Baltimore stabbing.

According to DHS, Barrie illegally entered the United States through Arizona in December 2023 and was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol before being released into the country.
