The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management awarded an infrastructure support services contract to AIS Technical Services LLC, a small business based in Tempe, Arizona. The contract covers work at the Portsmouth Site, including its gaseous diffusion plant, to support the agency's cleanup mission that protects human health and the environment.

ATS will provide surveillance, maintenance, repair and construction services for facilities; custodial services; grounds maintenance, snow removal and pest control; roadway and parking lot maintenance; fleet management; real property management; records management and document control; safeguards and security; engineering; training services; mail services; telecommunications; and environment, safety and health programs.

The contract has a potential period of performance of up to five years, consisting of a three-year base period, which includes a 60-day transition period, and one two-year option period. The Energy Department said ATS's proposal was selected following a competitive procurement process, with the agency determining the company offered the best value considering key personnel, organization and management approach, past performance and price.

The Portsmouth Site is part of the Energy Department's environmental cleanup mission, which has been addressing the environmental legacy of nuclear weapons development and nuclear energy research for more than 35 years, according to the agency.
