Construction of two new barracks buildings at Marine Corps Base Hawaii has reached the 53% completion mark, with structural work finished and crews now installing building systems and interior finishes.

The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Hawaii's $174.6 million project will deliver two connected, five-story buildings housing 190 rooms for up to 380 military personnel, replacing existing quarters that have reached the end of their usable life. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2029.

Structural work is complete and crews have installed windows and railings throughout both buildings. Installation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems has progressed through the first three floors. A mockup room is being used to evaluate finishes and establish workmanship standards.

The facilities will include elevators, duty offices, laundry rooms, vending areas, multipurpose spaces with kitchens and restrooms, plus gear wash and drying areas, bicycle storage and recreational pavilions. The project also encompasses roadway and parking improvements, sidewalks, landscaping, utilities, a central plant and an emergency generator.

The construction workforce has completed more than 170,000 work hours without any lost-time injuries.
