Troy Dunlap, an assistant chief at the Culver City Police Department, has been named interim chief of police, the city announced. Dunlap, a 24-year department veteran and Culver City native, will assume the role on November 2, 2026.

Dunlap joined the Culver City Police Department in 2002 and has served in patrol, investigations, community services, and administration. Most recently, he was assistant chief of the Administration Bureau, where he oversaw departmental operations, personnel, training, and professional standards.

"Chief Dunlap brings extensive experience, strong leadership, and a deep personal connection to Culver City," City Manager Odis Jones said. "His commitment to public safety, accountability, and community trust makes him well-positioned to lead the department during this transition."
