The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the deportation of multiple individuals with serious criminal convictions to third countries through third-country agreements that allow removals to nations other than the immigrants' countries of origin, the agency said.
Among those deported were people convicted of murder, rape, drug trafficking, and armed robbery. Deportations took place on May 20, July 14, August 15, and September 5, 2025, according to DHS.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said: "For far too long, illegal aliens ordered removed by a judge have avoided deportation simply because DHS had no place to send them. Through engaging in fully legal third-country removals, the days of avoiding deportation are over."
Specific individuals deported included Jose Manuel Rodriguez-Quinones from Cuba, convicted of first-degree murder with a weapon and cocaine trafficking; Tuan Thanh Phan from Vietnam, convicted of first-degree murder; and Dung Tien Nguyen from Vietnam, convicted of sexual abuse of a child under 16 and second-degree rape.
