The Texas Comptroller's office has completed an on-site evaluation of Prosper Independent School District and plans to release a comprehensive review of the district's operations by year-end.
Prosper is the first of four school districts selected for detailed performance reviews. The three other districts selected are Austin, Barbers Hill, and El Paso. The reviews are designed to determine whether district spending complies with state law and directs funds to students, classrooms, and teachers, rather than supporting administrative overhead.
Gov. Greg Abbott requested the evaluation so the Texas Legislature can consider the findings before its next regular session begins in January 2027.
The Comptroller's office is also encouraging the public to report suspected waste, fraud, or abuse of taxpayer funds through an online portal on the agency's website.
