The city of Las Vegas is now offering up to $5,000 in financial assistance to qualifying older adults for home modifications designed to improve safety and accessibility. The program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Eligible modifications include bathroom upgrades such as grab bars and comfort-height toilets, kitchen accessibility improvements including D-shaped cabinet handles and accessible faucets, and mobility supports like temporary ramps and handrails. The program also covers removal of tripping hazards and uneven flooring surfaces.
To qualify, homeowners must be at least 62 years old, live in the modified home as their primary residence, and have an annual household income below 80 percent of the area median income. The income threshold is currently capped at $76,150 for a household of four or $53,350 for a single occupant.
Interested residents can apply through the city's program by phone at 702-229-7444 or by email at shift@lasvegasnevada.gov.
