New York's unemployment insurance system will shut down for 9 to 12 days beginning November 2 at 5 p.m., the state Department of Labor announced. During the outage, residents will be unable to file new unemployment claims, complete weekly certifications, update account information, or receive benefit payments.
All online and phone services will be unavailable during the upgrade. The department said individuals will receive any benefits they are entitled to once services resume, though payments will be delayed.
Anyone currently receiving unemployment benefits or planning to file a new claim should complete their weekly certification or submit their claim before 5 p.m. on November 2.
