The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has proposed a $36,000 civil penalty against Acuren Inspection Inc., a company licensed to conduct industrial radiography, for four safety violations at its Alaska facility.
According to an NRC inspection, the company failed to conduct required radiation surveys, follow radiography procedures, adequately oversee radiographic activities, and provide proper instructions for employees responding to equipment alarms.
The NRC issued the enforcement action after reviewing the violations, Acuren's written response, and corrective actions the company has taken or planned to comply with NRC regulations.
The company has 30 days to pay the fine, dispute it, or request a neutral third party to review the case.
