Pittsburgh opened a new soccer mini-pitch at Ormsby Park with funding from the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Philadelphia Soccer 2026, organizations that partnered with the city during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The facility replaces the park's outdated dek hockey rink.

The U.S. Soccer Foundation and Philadelphia Soccer 2026 donated $100,000 for the installation, which features an interlocking tile playing surface, soccer goals, and lighting for evening use. The organizations also provided a $52,000 grant for youth soccer programming at the facility through the Soccer for Success program.

The partnership emerged from Pittsburgh's hosting of a World Cup Fan Zone, which included live screenings of games at Acrisure Stadium and youth soccer clinics. "We want to continue to create spaces where kids can have fun, develop skills and be part of a team," Mayor Corey O'Connor said. A similar mini-pitch was also donated to PPS Sunnyside.
