Two weeks ahead of Election Day on Nov. 3, more than 780,000 Michigan voters have already cast their ballots through early voting sites or mail-in voting, according to the Michigan Secretary of State. The turnout represents 10.7% of the state's active registered voters.
A total of 2.1 million ballots have been requested, marking a 17% increase from the same point two weeks before the 2022 midterm election. The Michigan Secretary of State said 789,476 voters have returned completed mail ballots by drop box or clerk's office, while 96 have voted at early voting sites.
Deputy Secretary of State Aghogho Edevbie advised voters to hand-deliver their ballots to avoid postal delays. "Clerks must have your ballot by 8 p.m. on Election Day for it to be counted," Edevbie said.
Early voting sites opened statewide Saturday, Oct. 24, and will remain open at least eight hours daily through Sunday, Nov. 1. Some jurisdictions, including East Lansing and Grand Rapids, have already begun early voting. Voters can track their ballot status online at mi.gov/trackballot.
