The city of Las Vegas is moving forward with a $4.9 million project to expand and upgrade tennis facilities at Lorenzi Park. The groundbreaking ceremony, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, has been postponed and will be rescheduled, according to the city.

The project will add three new tennis courts, refinish the existing 10 courts, and construct a new clubhouse building with a check-in area, multipurpose room, restrooms and storage. The entire facility will be renamed the Marty Hennessey Tennis Center at Lorenzi Park.

Starke Contractors will build the project, with design work by TSK Architects. The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department will oversee construction.

The work is funded through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, which authorized the sale of federal lands within a designated boundary in the Las Vegas valley. Proceeds from those sales must be used on projects that benefit communities and public lands.
