Governor Greg Abbott announced $462,352 in job training grants awarded by the Texas Workforce Commission to train 164 workers at two Tarrant County-area companies in high-demand occupations.

The grants include $282,392 to train 104 workers at DrinkPAK II LLC as batching technicians, electro-mechanical technicians, forklift drivers, and packaging technicians, and $179,960 to train 60 workers at GEV Wind Power US LLC as composite repair technicians.

"Today's investment prepares Texans for the high-demand jobs that drive our state's economy," Abbott said. The training is part of the Texas Skills Development Fund, a state program that has provided training in partnership with more than 5,000 employers since its inception in 1996, supporting or creating over 446,000 jobs.
