A federal jury in Minnesota convicted Alejandro Rojas Garcia of attempted production of child pornography on October 8, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota.
The investigation began in April 2024 after it was alleged that Garcia had sexually assaulted two sisters under the age of 13. Upon his arrest on April 5, 2024, officers searched his apartment and found multiple cell phones, cameras, laptop computers, flash drives, and other data storage devices throughout the residence.
The search also revealed five hidden cameras in the bathroom and numerous depictions of child sexual abuse material on the storage devices. One micro-SD card containing such material was concealed inside a crucifix.
Garcia faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, with sentencing to be set at a later date. He is also facing state criminal charges for related conduct.
The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations division and the Stillwater Police Department, with assistance from Washington County Child Protective Services.
