The Trump Administration announced $78 million in funding for 216 rural healthcare providers in Texas through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). The "Rural Texas Strong" initiative aims to strengthen healthcare in rural communities by supporting chronic disease prevention, workforce recruitment and retention, and medical equipment and facility improvements.
The funding will help rural healthcare providers address chronic conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, and obesity, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The investment also supports efforts to recruit and retain doctors, emergency medical personnel, and other healthcare workers in rural areas.
The announcement comes under the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which allocated $50 billion in total funding to help states transform healthcare delivery in America. The Rural Health Transformation Program gives states flexibility to address their rural healthcare needs while focusing on expanding access to quality care.
