Federal agents arrested a New Jersey woman on October 7 for voting as a non-citizen, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations office in Newark, working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrested Lizbeth Almonte-Rosa, a naturalized citizen from the Dominican Republic. She faces charges of voting by an alien.

Almonte-Rosa registered to vote in December 2021 and cast ballots in both the 2022 primary and general elections before she became a U.S. citizen, DHS said.

According to the department, Almonte-Rosa was lawfully admitted to the United States in August 2016. She applied for naturalization in May 2023, which was approved in March 2024, and became a citizen in April 2024. If found guilty, she is subject to denaturalization.
