Las Vegas will break ground Tuesday, Oct. 20, on a $4.9 million renovation project at Lorenzi Park, expanding the facility's tennis amenities with three new courts and a new clubhouse building, the city announced.

The project will refinish the park's existing 10 tennis courts and construct a clubhouse with a check-in area, multipurpose room, restrooms, and storage. The entire complex will be called the Marty Hennessey Tennis Center at Lorenzi Park. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the park, 3333 W. Washington Ave.

Starke Contractors will oversee construction, with TSK Architects serving as design consultant. The city's Public Works Department will manage the project. The work is funded through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, federal legislation that authorized the sale of federal lands within the Las Vegas valley and requires proceeds to be used on projects benefiting communities and public lands.
