Las Vegas is offering free lead-hazard assessments and remediation to homeowners with young children in older homes. The city was awarded a 48-month grant by the Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes to support the initiative and reduce childhood lead poisoning.

To qualify, homeowners must have a child under age 6 residing in or frequently visiting a home built before 1978 within Las Vegas city limits, and household income must meet HUD guidelines. Property owners of rental homes can also participate if they maintain the property in lead-safe condition for at least three years after remediation and prioritize families with children under 6 as tenants.

Separately, Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Valley Water District are offering the Drip Repair & Intervention Program, providing up to $7,500 in grants to qualifying homeowners for water leak repairs. Households must have annual income below 80% of the area median income (currently $76,150 for a family of four) and use funds to repair active leaks in their primary residence, including leaks from on-site service lines. The water district funds the $500,000 program through charges paid by its highest water users.

Homeowners can apply for either program through the city's Participant Portal or by emailing SHIFT@LasVegasNevada.gov.
