The Oklahoma State Election Board evacuated its office Tuesday morning after receiving an envelope containing suspicious white powder. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was called to assess the situation.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department and Oklahoma National Guard also responded. No staff members were harmed, according to State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax.
"We want to assure Oklahoma voters that today's incident does not impact our ability to conduct elections," Ziriax said. "Election officials remain committed to ensuring safe and secure elections."
Law enforcement authorities are investigating the matter.
