With three weeks until Michigan's November 3 general election, more than 440,000 voters have already cast their ballots, representing about 6 percent of the state's active registered voters, according to the Michigan Secretary of State.

Mail ballot requests have increased significantly compared to 2022. The state reported 2,083,240 mail ballot requests as of October 13, up 20 percent from requests at the same point in the 2022 midterm election, with 440,677 ballots already returned.

Deputy Secretary of State Aghogho Edevbie said voters who have mail ballots can return them to drop boxes, local clerk's offices, or early voting locations. Early voting sites open October 24 and will be available daily through November 1. Voters who change their mind about voting by mail can still vote in person.

Ballots must be received by a drop box or clerk's office by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. Eligible Michigan residents can register to vote online through October 19 or in person through Election Day.
