The Oregon Transportation Commission formally adopted the 2026 Transportation Safety Action Plan at its Oct. 8 meeting, completing a two-year process to update the state's approach to road safety.

The plan guides the state's road safety investments and policies. According to the commission, the adoption means the plan can move into the implementation phase. The state will prioritize the plan's actions for near- and mid-term work, identify implementation roles among ODOT staff, other state agencies and local partners, and monitor progress based on fatal and serious injury crash data.

The commission said it will gather lessons learned from the implementation to inform the next plan update in 2031.
