U.S. airlines carried 90.5 million passengers systemwide in July 2026, down 1.8% from the all-time July high of 92.2 million in 2025, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported.
Domestic passengers totaled 77.8 million, down 1.4% from July 2025, while international enplanements reached 12.7 million, down 4.2% from the previous year.
When adjusted for seasonal patterns, the picture shows a sharper decline. Seasonally adjusted July enplanements totaled 79.2 million, down 1.0% from June and down 4.7% from the all-time peak of 83.2 million reached in June 2024, according to the agency.
The data comes from reports filed monthly with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics by U.S. commercial air carriers. The July figures are based on data from 61 U.S. carriers as of October 2.
