The U.S. Department of Agriculture is distributing approximately $1.8 billion in Conservation Reserve Program payments to agricultural producers and landowners in 2026, according to the USDA's Farm Service Agency.
The payments support participation in conservation programs, with an emphasis on Grassland CRP, which helps maintain rangeland and pastureland as grazing areas. The agency accepted offers on nearly 1 million new acres of Grassland CRP this year, providing ranchers with rental payments and cost share assistance.
After 2026 enrollment, Grassland CRP acreage is anticipated to account for more than 40% of all CRP enrolled acres, the USDA said.
