Walashek Industrial & Marine, Inc., a maritime boiler repair company, will expand its operations in Norfolk, Virginia, creating 40 new jobs over the next three years, Governor Abigail Spanberger announced.

The expansion represents the company's largest growth since its founding in 1986. Walashek, which serves military and civilian vessel customers, plans to invest an estimated $5 million in facility expansion, infrastructure improvements, workforce growth, and equipment.

The expansion includes bringing LCAC hovercraft maintenance and modernization capabilities to the Norfolk region. The company is headquartered in Norfolk and maintains additional facilities in California, Washington, Alabama, South Carolina, and Rhode Island.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership provided $102,000 in support through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which assists companies with employee recruitment and training.

The expansion is being driven partly by a multiyear boiler support contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command awarded in February 2026 and planned expansion of the company's existing hovercraft support program from San Diego into the Norfolk market.
