Pittsburgh awarded $550,000 for park renovation and trail study

Funding from state will support Fort Pitt Park improvement in Garfield and Three Rivers Heritage Trail expansion study.

Pittsburgh has been awarded $550,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for community parks and conservation projects, Mayor Corey O'Connor announced.

The funding includes $500,000 for rehabilitation of Fort Pitt Park in the Garfield neighborhood and $50,000 for a study to expand the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The grants come through the Community Conservation Partnership Programs (C2P2) grants program managed by the DCNR Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.

The C2P2 program supports recreational improvements, natural resource conservation, and community revitalization across Pennsylvania.
