Over 201,000 Michigan voters had cast their ballots by mail or early in-person voting as of October 6, marking a 30 percent increase from the same point in 2022, the Michigan Secretary of State reported.

As of that date, 2,047,983 voters had requested mail ballots for the November 3 general election, compared with 1,603,912 requests by the same time in 2022. The 201,909 ballots returned represented 2.7 percent of Michigan's active registered voters.

The state offers multiple voting methods. Early in-person voting begins October 24 and runs through November 1 at locations statewide, with at least nine days available. Voters casting ballots on Election Day, November 3, can do so at their local polling places. Those returning mail ballots can do so by mail, at secure ballot drop boxes now open statewide, or at early voting sites before Election Day. All ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Michigan voters can continue to cast mail ballots. Voters can track their ballot status online at mi.gov/trackballot or by calling their local clerk.
