Electrical components manufacturer Methode Electronics has relocated its headquarters from Chicago to Southfield, Michigan, bringing at least 90 new jobs and a $3.7 million capital investment to the state.
The company, founded in 1946, employs more than 6,500 people worldwide and manufactures electrical components for automotive, aerospace, commercial vehicle, and industrial applications. Methode previously had 59 Michigan-based employees and projects creating 90 additional jobs by 2030.
New positions will have a starting wage of $29.41 per hour plus benefits, nearly $5 more than the regional median wage. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation approved a $900,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund to support the relocation, with funds disbursed as the company meets milestones outlined in a formal agreement.
"Being closer to our customers and the broader Detroit automotive network strengthens our ability to operate strategically, collaborate more effectively, and position the company for long-term success," said Jon DeGaynor, the company's president and CEO.
The company operates in 14 countries.
