The Arizona Department of Transportation opened a $44 million interchange along Interstate 40 in Kingman on Monday, enhancing access to the city's airport, industrial development, and employment centers.

The project, named Flying Fortress Parkway, serves the eastern portion of Kingman. The City of Kingman hosted an opening event that included a ceremonial flyover by a World War II-era B-17 bomber. ADOT began construction in December 2024.

The new interchange is expected to reduce congestion at the existing I-40 interchange at Andy Devine Avenue, also known as Historic Route 66, which is located 4 miles west.

Flying Fortress Parkway is part of a larger ADOT investment in the Kingman area. A separate $106 million project to construct a new free-flowing interchange between I-40 and U.S. 93 is more than 80 percent complete and expected to finish in 2027.
