A single-engine aircraft carrying two people crashed in the mountains south of Boulder, Colorado, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. The crash was located October 5, 2026, at about 10:15 a.m. by a MedEvac helicopter and the Civil Air Patrol.
Both individuals on board were found deceased. No survivors were located. The crash site is situated north of Eldorado Canyon State Park and south of the Flatirons, in an area of difficult terrain that required rescue teams approximately two hours to reach.
The Boulder County Sheriff's Office is coordinating the investigation with the National Transportation Safety Board, which will lead the probe. The NTSB is expected to have a team on site by October 6, according to the sheriff's office. The Boulder County Coroner's Office is separately investigating to determine the cause and manner of death. The identities of the deceased will be released after positive identification and notification of next of kin.
