Virginia's workforce training program has ranked No. 1 in the nation for preparing workers, according to Area Development's 2026 Top States for Doing Business report.

The Virginia Talent Accelerator Program delivers customized recruitment and training services to companies relocating to or expanding in the state. All services are provided at no cost to qualified new and expanding companies.

The top ranking marks the second major national endorsement of the program. The Virginia Talent Accelerator Program was also ranked No. 1 in the Business Facilities Rankings Report for the fourth consecutive year. In the overall Area Development rankings, Virginia placed No. 8, and also received recognition in innovation and research (No. 5), site readiness programs (No. 6), and logistics and transportation infrastructure (No. 7).

Since its launch in 2019, the program has supported more than 22,000 announced jobs through customized recruitment and training services. Governor Spanberger said "Virginia is building the best workforce in America, and industry is taking notice."

Recent projects supported by the program include Avio USA in Hurt, RINGANA in Roanoke, and Jabil in Prince George. Merck & Co. plans to use the program for its $3 billion expansion, which will generate 500 jobs at its Elkton site.
