Texas has opened applications for an estimated $31 million in Fund for Veterans' Assistance grants. Nonprofit organizations and local government agencies that provide direct services to veterans may apply.

The application portal opened October 2 and closes December 2, 2026. The 24-month grant awards range from a minimum of $50,000 to a maximum of $600,000. Applicants may receive up to three grants, and county governments may receive up to four grants, including Veteran Treatment Court grants.

The grants fund housing modification, rental assistance, homelessness prevention, mental health care, legal aid, transportation, food assistance, assistive technology, and vocational and trade-skills training. The Texas Veterans Commission awards grants in five categories: General Assistance, Housing for Texas Heroes, Veterans Mental Health, Veterans Treatment Courts, and Veteran County Service Offices.

Since 2009, the Texas Veterans Commission has awarded more than $400 million through more than 1,790 Fund for Veterans' Assistance grants.
