The U.S. Treasury Department has completed automatic enrollment in Trump Accounts, tax-advantaged investment accounts for American children under age 18. Automatic enrollment makes over 60 million additional eligible children able to claim accounts through their parents and guardians, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Parents or guardians must claim a child's automatically enrolled Trump Account through the official Trump Accounts app (available for iOS and Android) to manage the account and allow family members, friends, and employers to contribute. During the claiming process, parents verify their identity and relationship to the child and accept account terms.
Once claimed, eligible children receive a one-time $1,000 seed contribution from the Treasury. The accounts are designed to allow children to begin building investments during their minor years.
