The Bureau of Justice Statistics released a report on deaths occurring in federal custody and during federal arrest, the seventh in a series spanning a decade following the Death in Custody Reporting Act of 2013.

The "Federal Deaths in Custody and During Arrest, 2024 – Statistical Tables" report presents statistics on deaths occurring during federal arrest, detention, and incarceration. It describes characteristics of deceased persons, incidents, and facilities for deaths in federal custody and during arrest by federal law enforcement agencies during fiscal year 2024.

The report was prepared by Sean E. Goodison and Charlotte Lopez-Jauffret, statisticians with the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the principal federal agency responsible for collecting crime and criminal justice statistics, according to the Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs.
