The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued $184,387 in penalties against six companies in August for environmental violations.

Fines ranged from $9,674 to $64,771. According to the agency, alleged violations included an aluminum finishing business failing to properly monitor hazardous waste, a trucking and transportation business failing to report and clean up a diesel spill, and a real estate business operating a disposal system without a permit.

The companies fined were: D&M Import Services Inc. in Ukiah ($64,771 for land quality violations), Electro-Chem Metal Finishing Inc. in Portland ($15,200 for hazardous waste and air quality), Portland Disposal & Recycling Inc. in Portland ($41,888 for stormwater), Radar Holding LLC in Condon ($9,674 for wastewater), Seubert Excavators Inc. in Ontario ($47,454 for stormwater), and True Organic Products LLC in Boardman ($5,400 for wastewater).

Recipients of the penalties must either pay the fine to the state treasury or file an appeal within 20 days of receiving notice. They may offset a portion of a penalty by funding a supplemental environmental project.
