Texas Comptroller Don Huffines released updated estimates of statewide taxable property values, projecting $4.33 trillion for 2026, a 5.07% increase from 2025.

The final taxable property value for 2025 is estimated at $4.12 trillion, marking the first time in more than a decade that year-over-year values remained essentially unchanged. The estimates incorporate recent policy changes, including a voter-approved increase in the school district homestead exemption to $140,000, a temporary 20% appraisal cap on certain non-homestead properties, and adjustments to exemptions for income-producing tangible personal property.

Growth is expected to continue at modest rates, with projections of 2.53% growth in 2027 and 5.66% in 2028. These rates remain below levels seen in recent years, when annual increases frequently ranged from 6% to 10%. The estimates support budgeting for the 2028-29 biennium.
