Arizona Highways magazine won 23 awards for excellence in writing, photography, design, and digital content at the 46th annual International Regional Magazine Association conference, announced Sept. 18.
The publication, which has been published for 101 years by the Arizona Department of Transportation, received nine Gold Awards. These included back-to-back Magazine Photographer of the Year honors for Joel Hazelton, and awards for Website of the Year, Best Podcast, Public Issues article, Historic Feature, Travel Feature, Column, Portrait Photo and Portrait Series.
The magazine also earned silver and bronze awards in categories including Magazine Writer of the Year (Annette McGivney), Nature and Environment, General Feature, Photo Series, Illustration, and others.
"Even after more than 100 years of publication, we've barely scratched the surface of the landscapes left to photograph and the voices left to share," Publisher Kelly Mero said.
