California's Department of Justice is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Madera that occurred on September 27, 2026, around 12:45 PM. The incident involved the Madera Police Department and resulted in one person dying, according to state officials.

The investigation is being conducted under Assembly Bill 1506, according to California Attorney General Rob Bonta's office. The state's California Police Shooting Investigation Team opened the investigation.
