President Trump and Xi Jinping, China's president, concluded a state visit at the White House. The White House said it was the first visit to the White House by a Chinese president in more than a decade and the first time a Chinese leader has conducted two formal state visits to the United States.

Trump and Xi held bilateral discussions. Trump said, "I think our farmers are going to be very happy — a lot of very positive things happened… Great things for both countries. It's just been very, very productive."

The visit included formal ceremonies and a military review and flyover. Trump presented Xi and Madame Peng Liyuan, Xi's wife, with a custom-made statue of a bald eagle. At the state dinner, Trump said of the statue, "The bald eagle is a national symbol of the United States and an embodiment of the free and soaring spirit of America — and we hope it will find a nice place, a wonderful place, in Beijing."

Trump also hosted tea with First Lady Melania Trump and Peng, and gave Xi tours of Marine One, the presidential helicopter, and the new South Lawn helipad. The delegations visited the National Archives to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence.
