The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun repairs on US 160 near Dennehotso following significant damage from storms on September 16. The agency said work started this week with a goal of reopening two lanes by early October, though weather could affect the timeline.

The repairs cover approximately 80 feet of damaged roadway at milepost 420 near Dennehotso, according to ADOT. The work includes drainage improvements, roadway reconstruction, new pavement and asphalt, and new striping.

Eastbound US 160 remains closed at Navajo Route 59 (milepost 402) and westbound is closed at the US 160/US 191 junction (milepost 435), ADOT said. The agency advised motorists to plan for extra travel time and seek alternative routes until repairs are complete. Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT's Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov or the AZ511 app.
