The Internal Revenue Service concluded its nationwide tax forums, drawing nearly 13,000 attendees across five cities, the agency said. The forums featured training on emerging tax policies and the Working Families Tax Cuts, plus one-on-one assistance with taxpayer cases and e-services support.

Events were held in Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Orlando. Each included a Case Resolution Room where the Taxpayer Advocate Service and IRS resolved 1,165 cases through individual assistance. A separate Digital Account Services Room provided 1,635 tax professionals with help on e-services, Preparer Identification Numbers (PTINs), and identity authentication support.

Seminar topics included artificial intelligence, digital asset information reporting, managing IRS collection cases, and navigating IRS audits. Multiple sessions covered provisions in the Working Families Tax Cuts, including tax treatment of tips and overtime, and expectations for the 2027 filing season.

"The tax forums provide a great opportunity for the IRS to hear feedback from tax professionals and for the IRS to provide presentations on emerging tax policies," said IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank J. Bisignano. "Year after year, the tax forums prove their value as a tool to enhance tax administration."

The forums included participation from the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Low Income Taxpayer Clinics, the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Society of Accountants, the National Society of Tax Professionals, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
