Oregon Health Plan members will face new work requirements beginning January 1, 2027, the state's health authority announced this month. About 600,000 members are receiving notices of the changes, which are required under federal law to maintain program funding.

The new rules, mandated by House Resolution 1 (the "Big Beautiful Bill"), will apply to certain members ages 19 to 64 when they apply for or renew coverage. They will need to provide documentation once the rules take effect, according to the state.

The notices going out this month are informational only; no action is required yet. The Oregon Health Authority is urging members to keep their contact information current by visiting benefits.oregon.gov, calling 1-800-699-9075, downloading the ONE mobile app, or visiting a local Oregon Department of Human Services office.

The state's health authority will hold a media briefing on September 21 to outline the federal changes.
