The Revolution Wind offshore wind project installed its 65th and final turbine, achieving a major milestone toward full commercial operation later this year, according to Connecticut officials. The 704-megawatt facility, located approximately 15 nautical miles southeast of Point Judith, Rhode Island, began construction in 2023.

Once fully operational, Revolution Wind will deliver enough electricity to the New England grid to power 350,000 homes, equivalent to about 2.5% of the region's electricity supply. Connecticut will purchase 304 megawatts of the final output, with Rhode Island receiving the remaining 400 megawatts.

Connecticut's share will meet approximately 5% of the state's overall electricity demand. According to a Department of Energy and Environmental Protection analysis, by 2028 Revolution Wind is projected to save Connecticut and New England ratepayers half a billion dollars annually in electricity market costs, while also saving Connecticut ratepayers $150 to $200 million in public benefits charges over the life of the 20-year contract.
