Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas has secured nearly $12 billion in Medicaid funding after months of negotiation with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The funding will authorize support for hospitals, physicians, rural clinics, nursing facilities, and behavioral health providers serving patients across the state.
According to the Governor's office, the allocation is intended to keep emergency rooms open and ensure rural families retain access to local care. The Office of the Governor and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission negotiated the funding with CMS.
