The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant for the Hydra Fire burning in Bosque County, Texas, clearing the way for the state to receive 75 percent federal reimbursement for eligible wildfire suppression costs.

As of Monday morning, the fire had burned approximately 1,100 acres and remained about 25 percent contained, according to Governor Greg Abbott. The fire prompted evacuations and threatened more than 200 homes and surrounding infrastructure in the region.

State and local response personnel remained actively engaged in suppression and containment operations. The Texas Division of Emergency Management deployed wildfire response resources across the state in response to increased wildfire conditions.

The Fire Management Assistance Grant makes such federal funds available to states and local jurisdictions to support the mitigation, management and control of fires that threaten to become major disasters.
