South Korean automotive components manufacturer Hansae Mobility USA Manufacturing, LLC announced plans to create 102 new jobs and invest over $93.2 million to expand operations in Chesterfield Township, Macomb County. Governor Gretchen Whitmer made the announcement during her East Asia investment mission to South Korea. The company specializes in driveline systems and other vehicle components for major global automotive manufacturers.
The new 400,000 square-foot manufacturing facility will consolidate the company's assembly and machining operations at a single location. The expansion will reduce transportation costs, improve supply chain responsiveness, and bring manufacturing activities in-house that are currently performed by suppliers in Korea. Hansae Mobility has operated in the United States for nearly a decade.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is supporting the project with a $625,000 performance-based grant through its Michigan Business Development Program. Michigan Works! has allocated $702,413 in workforce development support, with $582,000 estimated from the Going Pro Talent Fund. The expansion is expected to retain 171 existing jobs while creating 102 new positions.
