The Oklahoma House of Representatives is hosting two interim studies this week to examine rising housing costs and classroom discipline, seeking expert and local input on state policy responses.

Rep. Rob Hall, R-Tulsa, is organizing both studies. The housing study will convene Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Room 206 of the Oklahoma State Capitol to examine what is driving housing costs and what can be addressed through state policy. The study will cover free-market approaches, private property rights, and regulatory burdens while considering the balance between affordability, quality and safety.

The school discipline study is set for Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Room 450. It will examine how discipline and classroom culture affect student outcomes, character development, and teacher retention, and what lawmakers can do to support educators.

Hall said the studies are an opportunity to hear from national experts and local leaders working in these fields. He added that the studies will help lawmakers understand what role state policy changes might play in addressing housing and classroom issues.
