All travel lanes on Interstate 84 have reopened at McCord Creek Bridge, just west of Bonneville Dam, marking a major milestone for the McCord Creek Bridge Replacement Project. The new eastbound bridge is now ready for traffic, and the notorious "dip in the road" where vehicles transitioned onto the old bridge has been removed.

Through fall 2026, crews will continue rebuilding the center median to separate eastbound and westbound traffic, paving lanes further from the bridge, reshaping dirt and ditches around the westbound off-ramp, and restoring the Historic Highway State Trail section in the work zone. Work will also occur under the bridge without impacting traffic, including removing old bridge foundations, the work bridge, and materials.

Travelers should expect occasional temporary single lane closures on I-84 during this work. The NE Frontage Road on-ramp to eastbound I-84 at the Elowah Falls Trailhead parking lot remains closed throughout construction; those accessing eastbound I-84 from NE Frontage Road must detour to the on-ramps at Ainsworth State Park at Exit 35.

The Historic Highway State Trail will be open to bicyclists and hikers between John B. Yeon and Toothrock Trailheads and is anticipated to be restored to pre-construction conditions this fall.
