Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Anthony Tyrone Higgs, a Bahamas national, in Decatur, Georgia on Sept. 3, authorities said. He is currently in ICE custody as the Department of Homeland Security moves to revoke his permanent resident status.
Higgs was admitted to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident in October 1976. According to federal investigators, he was convicted of two counts of possessing a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of grand larceny, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, criminal domestic violence, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest.
An ICE investigation confirmed in August 2026 that Higgs had illegally voted in the 2020 election. DHS placed him in removal proceedings based on the criminal convictions and the voting violation.
