The General Services Administration announced plans to dispose of the Fritz G. Lanham Federal Building and an adjacent parking garage in Fort Worth as part of a broader effort to cut federal real estate costs.

The buildings are among more than 127 properties the agency has divested since January 2025. According to the GSA, those dispositions have generated $614 million in proceeds while avoiding $1.15 billion in delinquent maintenance and operating expenses and eliminating over $1 billion in costs through lease negotiations and reductions.

The agency projected that removing the Fort Worth buildings and other identified properties from the federal real estate portfolio will eliminate $2.7 billion in delinquent maintenance and annual operating costs. The dispositions are part of an effort to strengthen the federal real estate portfolio by focusing resources on structures that best support agency missions.

GSA Administrator Edward C. Forst said that "the federal government's real estate portfolio must evolve with mission demands, workforce needs, and taxpayer expectations."
